Why Consider a First Look?

Updated: Nov 11, 2019

If you are even somewhat nervous, or anxiously excited for your ceremony...which, if you're human, you probably are...then seeing each other in a quiet, secluded place, away from all the other voices, may be exactly what you need. Having a few moments to see each other, be able to soak it in, calm each other's nerves, and connect right before you meet again at your ceremony, can be a very precious time. Your photographer will help you choose a beautiful place, and will be nearby to capture the moments.

More reasons to have a first look...

Extra special photos of the two of you.

More time for photos of you both with family and bridal party before the ceremony. That means after the ceremony you have more time to be with your friends and family.

Less risk that the groom will see the bride accidentally before the ceremony. So much less stress on that end!

Different mindset. At the ceremony, most people are in more of a "let's do this" mode. You are in front of everyone, there are just more nerves. There's a good chance it will be harder to soak in those moments of first seeing each other than it would be if it were just the two of you.

So, if you're dedicated to the tradition of seeing each other for the first time during your ceremony, I honor you for knowing what you want. If you want to do a first look, I think it's a fantastic option that can add meaningfulness and decrease stress on your wedding day!
